Jesus said; “𝑨𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆” Transformation of a community or a nation is done through transforming people on an individual level and the Gospel which is the good news that Jesus died for sinners has the power to transform anyone who believes.
Opening In Prayer
Our day opened with prayer, praise and worship and as we pressed into God freedom broke out in the room.
We then set up in the town square, put on the worship music and went to work – the town of Mountmellick has a vibe about it that is a place where people really only pass through traveling to the two major towns situated each side; Portlaoise and Tullamore and there is a sense it has been forgotten.
God has not forgotten the people of Mountmellick, and the town is steeped in a rich heritage – John Wesley preached to the largest crowd outside of Dublin here.
As we encountered people coming into the town we simply brought our experience of God in our own lives to them – one such man sitting in his car shouted; “Stay away!” as we approached the car, he then explained he was just out of hospital with leukemia and his immune system was low. A member of the team replied back; “I believe in a God of miracles – can I pray for you?” as the man agreed we prayed for his healing and a supernatural increase of his immune system the man was so visibly moved that he asked for one of our Johns gospels and was full of gratitude that we would take the time to pray for him.
Another young teenager broke into to tears as the team ministered to him – he had just recently lost his dad.
Two young ladies listened intently as the love of God in sending His Son to die for us was explained to them – we prayed with them before they left.
A group of three young lads heard the truth of how we can approach God for ourselves through Jesus without having to go through any man – you could see the conflict in their thinking as the truth of God’s word was explained to them.
Two men sitting in a car said they were not interested in religion, and they were told neither are we, and neither is God, and as the gospel was explained to them you could see it was deeply touching their hearts – they allowed us to pray with them before we left.
Another member of the team who lives in Mountmellick felt in her heart to go to the estate where she lives, she met one of her neighbours whom she had previously prayed with for a house, and as the team entered the estate here was the neighbour and his family moving into their new house the ensuing conversation opened up and the man was led in prayer to Jesus and surrendered his heart.
Many more amazing conversations were had with so many more people and many seeds were sown into people’s lives and the message of hope, and that God has not forgotten was declared in Mountmellick today the word of truth was proclaimed.
Just as this report opened with our grounding scripture so it will close – God told Ezekiel “𝑺𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒅𝒓𝒚 𝒃𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒂𝒚, 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏” and as Ezekiel spoke the dry bones began to be joined together and muscle and sinew, flesh and skin began to form, but they still had no breath in them.
Then God told Ezekiel speak a prophetic message to the winds, this is what the sovereign Lord says: “𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑶 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒔! 𝑩𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒔𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒎𝒂𝒚 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏” and as he spoke they came to life.
The picture here is quite clear that life and transformation only comes by the word and Spirit of God – So yes it is possible to transform our world, our nation, our communities, our families and ourselves by the Word and Spirit of God.
We ended our day with some good food, fellowship, and Craic and God blessed us with his Spirit and a great sense of unity was present.
